Autonomous Emergency Braking is an advanced driver-assistance system that automatically applies the vehicle’s brakes to prevent or mitigate a collision. Using a combination of sensors – such as millimeter-wave radar, cameras, LiDAR, and ultrasonic sensors– the system continuously monitors the road ahead for potential hazards, including other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and stationary obstacles. When the system detects an imminent collision and the driver does not respond in time, it triggers full braking force to either avoid the crash entirely or significantly reduce the impact severity. AEB is a core component of modern active safety packages and is increasingly mandated by global safety regulators, including Euro NCAP, IIHS, NHTSA, and China’s C-IASI. The system consists of three main modules: sensing ,decision-making, and actuation . Advanced variants include GAEB, full-speed AEB (covering speeds from 4 km/h to150 km/h or higher), and <strong>rear AEB for reversing situations.
🛑 Automatic Braking Intervention
- Applies partial or full braking force when a collision is unavoidable and the driver has not braked adequately.
