Lane Departure Warning
📄 Product Description
Lane Departure Warning is a fundamental active safety and driver-assistance system designed to reduce the risk of collisions caused by unintentional lane drifting. Using a forward-facing camera mounted behind the windshield, the system continuously monitors the vehicle’s position relative to visible lane markings .
When the system detects that the vehicle is about to cross a lane marking without the turn signal being activated, it issues an immediate alert to the driver. LDW is a warning-only system — it does not automatically steer the vehicle back into the lane.\
🔔 Alert Delivery
- Audible: A distinct chime, beep, or synthesized voice alert sounds to grab the driver’s attention.
- Haptic: In many premium vehicles, the steering wheel vibrates on the side of the departure, providing an intuitive tactile cue.
- Some systems also combine with seat vibration for additional feedback.
🧠 Advanced & Enhanced Variations
- Road Edge / Shoulder Detection: Monitors unmarked road edges or grass/gravel boundaries to warn against running off the road.
- LDW with Curve Speed Warning: Warns if the vehicle’s speed is too high for an upcoming curve, anticipating potential lane departure.
- Driver Monitoring Integration:Some systems pair with a driver-facing camera to assess drowsiness and adjust LDW sensitivity accordingly.
- Customizable Sensitivity: Many cars allow the driver to adjust the warning timing via the infotainment system.
