📡 Speed Setting and Cruise Control Operation
- Target Speed Setting: The driver sets a desired speed using the steering wheel-mounted cruise control buttons— just like conventional on-road cruise control.
- Speed Range: Operates at very low speeds between 1.8 km/h and 30 km/h
- Autonomous Operation: Once activated, ATPC requires no pedal inputs from the driver — it automatically manages both throttle and brake applications
- Forward and Reverse: The system works in both forward and reverse gears, making it useful for pulling away from standstill, ascending or descending inclines, and reversing on slippery surfaces
âš¡ Traction Management and Vehicle Control
- Automatic Terrain Adaptation: The system works seamlessly with Terrain Response— while Terrain Response tunes the vehicle’s settings for a specific terrain, ATPC maintains a steady speed across it.
- Brake and Throttle Integration: ATPC manages both engine output and braking to maintain the set speed, even on steep gradients, rough terrain, and low-grip surfaces.
- Speed Adjustment: The SET+ and SET- buttons on the steering wheel increase or decrease the target speed within the operating range.
- Resume Function: The RES button resumes the target speed after the driver has used the brakes to slow the vehicle.
🧠Advanced and Smart Capabilities
Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control (2025+): An evolution of ATPC now available on the 2025 Land Rover Defender, allowing drivers to set a “comfort level” while the vehicle autonomously handles throttle and braking on rough terrain
Low-Traction Launch: ATPC allows smooth pull-away even on low-friction surfaces such as ice, snow, or wet grass.
